Why Mbappe WILL Fill Alexis' Boots...transfer window The Gunners Premier League Title Kylian Mbappe F.A. Cup EPL English Premier League Arsene Wenger Arsene Arsenal FC Arsenal #Mbappe #Gunners #Football #FA Cup #EnglishPremierLeague #Alexis Sanchez #Alexis

With some quotes saying that Arsenal will have to pay 130 million for Mbappe, is he really worth it?

With Sanchez possibly going out the door, the answer is yes! Here's Why:

  • Sanchez will likely command a sale fee of 50 million, a significant profit.
  • This fee will reduce Mbappe's purchase price to around 80 million, which will be further offset by other departures.
  • Sanchez is at his peak, this will be the best time to sell to gain the most favourable deal.
  • Sanchez has about 4 years at his peak, Mbappe has 14 years.
  • The massive escalation in transfer fees mean that 130 million will likely be surpassed by his resale value in a few years.

But can Mbappe really fill Alexis' boots? There is no doubt that Sanchez is at his peak: 72 goals in 145 games for Arsenal clearly surpasses his 47 in 141 for Barcelona, and his 21 in 112 for Udinese.

Mbappe showed massive improvement in his second season to score 26 goals in 44 games for Monaco. This is almost exactly the same ratio as Sanchez' 30 goals in 51 games for Arsenal last season.

Clearly, one player will not necessarily win Arsenal the title, as shown by the failure to win with Alexis here. However, the price should not be prohibitive(as shown above), and, his pacy ability to put the ball in the back of the net should match(and probably surpass) that of Alexis Sanchez!

Arsenal Release New Kit...Nothing To See Here

With the release of the kit, Arsenal attempted to emphasise the joy of being a gooner, the oneness of the team and the excitement necessary to foster massive merchandise sales.

The question is: Is the kit sufficiently an upgrade to warrant the cost of replacing what one already owns?

The reality is that the kit is only marginally different, and this will likely deter parents from shelling out masses of dosh to help their kids stand out as current and cool.

Likely, though, as it is with any iphone release etc, that there will still be hordes of masses who will purchased the kit for bragging rites.

However, for me, the kit is nothing new here.

Will Giroud Leave? Here’s Why It Should Happen…

Giroud to leave? Why that’s good..

Will Giroud Leave? Here's Why It Should Happen...transfer window The Gunners Premier League Title Olivier Giroud F.A. Cup EPL English Premier League Arsene Wenger Arsene Arsenal FC Arsenal #Soccer #Gunners #Giroud #Football #FA Cup #EnglishPremierLeague

The Career Of Giroud In A Shapshot

Grenoble 2005-7

Giroud began with a modest 2 goals in 25 games for the Ligue 2 side. His elevation followed 5 years with the youth academy, eventually signing his professional contract at age 21.

Istres 2007-8

14 goals in 34 games showed the emerging Giroud to be striker who could deliver. He was just short of the 1 in 2 formula that marks a good striker.

Tours 2008-10

36 goals in 67 games for the Ligue 2 outfit was a top notch return and was subsequently signed by Montpellier for 2 Million, although he was loaned back to Tours for the remainder of the season.

Montpellier 2010-12

His 39 goals in 85 games showed that he could adjust well to the change from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1. This also resulted in his being called up for national competition, making his first of the 64 appearances for France.

Arsenal 2012-17

Giroud moved to Arsenal in 2012 for the sum of 12.4 million Euros, quite a good profit for Montpellier. The striker always had a hot/cold appreciation with the fans, perhaps due to scoring 98 in 226 appearances, under the 1 in 2 formula often used to judge strikers. During the 2016-17 season, Giroud often appeared from the subs bench, playing second string to Alexis and Welbeck. The lack of game time led to speculation that Giroud would soon be on the move, as we discuss below.

Editorial – Why Arsenal Should Sell Giroud

Giroud, being over 30 has undoubtedly peaked and whilst his career is not over, certainly the band is warming up. So, who would buy a player in the evening of his career? Many would. Even though Giroud’s season tally of 16 for 2016-17 was the lowest of his Arsenal career, he did have only limited opportunities.

Now for the crucial bit. A somewhat unspectacular career for France has blossomed in the last year or so, scoring 8 goals in 14 matches for France in 2016, and, 6 goals in only 5 matches in 2017(at the time of writing).

Clearly Giroud’s international performances show that the striker still has much to offer, and, clearly is a factor in the reported figure of 20 million.

So, why sell?

  • Now over 30, Giroud is subject to the same criteria that motivated the sale of Van Persie to United.
  • Whilst he is banging them in with ease on the international stage, his club tallies are good but not spectacular.
  • A purported fee commanding 20 million would be a tidy profit for Arsene Wenger who is always prudent in the transfer market.
  • Arsene Wenger has promised a serious title challenge and will require a striker who can approach the goal a game excellence of a Lacazette, Ronaldo or Messi(if Arsenal can afford and negotiate such a deal)

Olivier Giroud has been a loyal and consistent servant of Arsenal F.C., however, it is time for him to move on and enjoy the final years of his distinguished playing career.

Summer Transfer News...

To Get Arsenal Fans Drooling

Ox said

Mbappe:

"First and foremost, Mbappe has been a phenomenal revelation this season at such a young age.

"It is hard not to watch him closely. He is scoring so many goals and every week, it's in your face!

"I have been monitoring him and he really is a quality player.

Also:

Lacazette:

"I feel the same about Lacazette. I have seen him for a good few years now and he is always scoring goals."

"Anyone would want them in their team."....send them some flowers Ox, it's a lovefest Arsenal fans likely share!

Editorial View

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a positive guy. However, the likelihood of getting both is quite slim. In fact, the chance of getting Mbappe has seemingly shrunk rather than grown over recent days. It is much more likely that Lacazette is more attainable . However, it is also apparent that every time the Gunners go for someone, the ears of their rivals perk up and their chequebooks slide out of their pockets! Despite this, Ox's comments surely will cause salivation in even the most diehard Arsenal fan!! The question is, Why are we after a player we will have to pay over 100 million for? In his 2 seasons for Monaco, Mbappe has improved dramatically. His first season was poor for a striker, 1 goal in 14 appearances, however, last year he broke the strikers' target of a goal every 2 games by scoring 26 in 44 games. For an 18 year old, Mbappe has demonstrated a fantastic ability to adapt and thrive. Lacazette, on the other hand, will cost less, has a better scoring ratio(for now!) by putting 37 balls in the back of the net in only 45 games last year. But, at age 26, he is in his prime and has about 6 years left at the top compared to Mbappe's potential 14 years. It is clear why Arsenal will have to pay 100 million plus for Mbappe as compared to 60 million for Lacazette. If only the Ox's comments bore fruit and both strikers came to Arsenal, what a buffet of joy that would be!!

Arsenal Release 4

Arsenal.com have announced the release of four players, but don’t get too excited.

The following players were released: Yaya Sanogo(Shame, that one, really thought he could be the new Alan Smith!), Stefan O’Connor, Kristopher da Graca and Kostas Pileas.

The boring bit is that the 4 released players will not really free up much in the way of wage expenditures. Since most are youth or academy players, their wages hardly made any dent in the Arsenal coffers. So, really, this news has absolutely no bearing on the summer transfer market.

Arsenal wish these players all the best, as, I’m sure, we all do.

Whilst The Fans Wait For The Silver Bar..Will They Miss The Gold Nugget?

There is no doubt Arsenal supporters are anxiously waiting for the oft touted Marquee signing. Names such as Mbappe waft in a smell of promise, a hint of glory. In a team of attacking options such as Alexis Sanchez, and, consistent international performer, Giroud, a promising striker will add a little. Why only a little? If we lose Sanchez’s 20 odd goals and gain a 20 odd goal striker, the tally will only alter modestly. If is kind of like acquiring a silver bar, valuable but not earth shattering.

However, gaining a defender on a free might be the gold nugget that is easy to overlook. Compare the stats in this infographic that appears on www.oulala.com:

Whilst The Fans Wait For The Silver Bar..Will They Miss The Gold Nugget?transfer window The Gunners Kolasinac EPL English Premier League Arsene Wenger Arsenal FC Arsenal #Gunners #Football #EnglishPremierLeague #Alexis Sanchez #Alexis

Kolasinac could prove to be a true gold nugget. He betters our current options significantly in most areas. Not only are his interceptions much better at 3.2 than Monreal at 2.5 or Gibb’s significantly lower return, his forward contributions absolutely glow in comparison. With 3 goals and 5 assists, his competition in the team can only muster 0 goals and 3 assists between them.

Truly Kolasinac has the potential to shine like a true gold nugget.

There is no doubt that fans will not be happy until the marquee signing arrives. However, it is best not to overlook the gold nugget whilst waiting for the silver bar.

Mourinho on Wenger-The Leopard Changes It’s Spots?

#AFCvMUFC

As quoted on ESPN, Mourinho has done a 180(apparently) in his opinion of Arsene Wenger. The leopard truly has changed it’s spots!

Consider the following quotes:

  • “Football now means if you don’t get success then you are gone — so yes, I feel bad for other managers. When you are at one club for 20 years it is impossible to have success every single year. Even Sir Alex will tell you that.”
  • “The truth is that I hope Wenger keeps his job at Arsenal. I really do. I hope that the club trusts him to make things better. I think that Arsene is probably the last example of a manager who brings stability to a club over such a long time”
  • “Sir Alex was the same at United and he was able to leave when he knew it was time to leave. I hope that it is the same with Wenger. Why not?”

Jose went on to say that he will likely field an understrength team tonight and hopes this makes Wenger happy.

Is this truly the leopard changing it’s spots? Or, is it another chapter in the Mourinho mind games? It is unlikely that Jose would try to increase the confidene of his opposite number, but, we will learn more later today

West Ham 1 – Spurs 0: Chelsea 2 Wins From Title

In reality, Spurs should have walked home with this one.

Spurs with momentum, Hammers under pressure are ingredients that should have meant the result was a foregone conclusion. However the Hammers showed the proper response to pressure and the benefits of a united squad(as opposed to Chelsea under Mourinho or Leicester under Ranieri).

Having taken their eye off the ball, so to speak, Spurs loss leaves Chelsea requiring only 2 wins from 4 to secure the title.

Now, Spurs find themselves with the same mental pressure that West Ham had prior to this game. This was acknowledged by Eric Dier after the game:

“It was already going to be hard before, so now it is going to be even harder,”

How will Spurs go from here?:

  1. They repeat the mental fragility of recent years, and fold, or,
  2. They continue their unstoppable momentum and go past Chelsea to the title.

Personally, although Chelsea are far from unbeatable, I feel that Spurs are in uncharted territory and, this will stop them from attaining the title.

MY PREDICTION: CHELSEA TO WIN 3 POINTS CLEAR
