Arsenal Release New Kit...Nothing To See Here

With the release of the kit, Arsenal attempted to emphasise the joy of being a gooner, the oneness of the team and the excitement necessary to foster massive merchandise sales.

The question is: Is the kit sufficiently an upgrade to warrant the cost of replacing what one already owns?

The reality is that the kit is only marginally different, and this will likely deter parents from shelling out masses of dosh to help their kids stand out as current and cool.

Likely, though, as it is with any iphone release etc, that there will still be hordes of masses who will purchased the kit for bragging rites.

However, for me, the kit is nothing new here.

Will Giroud Leave? Here’s Why It Should Happen…

Giroud to leave? Why that’s good..

Will Giroud Leave? Here's Why It Should Happen...transfer window The Gunners Premier League Title Olivier Giroud F.A. Cup EPL English Premier League Arsene Wenger Arsene Arsenal FC Arsenal #Soccer #Gunners #Giroud #Football #FA Cup #EnglishPremierLeague

The Career Of Giroud In A Shapshot

Grenoble 2005-7

Giroud began with a modest 2 goals in 25 games for the Ligue 2 side. His elevation followed 5 years with the youth academy, eventually signing his professional contract at age 21.

Istres 2007-8

14 goals in 34 games showed the emerging Giroud to be striker who could deliver. He was just short of the 1 in 2 formula that marks a good striker.

Tours 2008-10

36 goals in 67 games for the Ligue 2 outfit was a top notch return and was subsequently signed by Montpellier for 2 Million, although he was loaned back to Tours for the remainder of the season.

Montpellier 2010-12

His 39 goals in 85 games showed that he could adjust well to the change from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1. This also resulted in his being called up for national competition, making his first of the 64 appearances for France.

Arsenal 2012-17

Giroud moved to Arsenal in 2012 for the sum of 12.4 million Euros, quite a good profit for Montpellier. The striker always had a hot/cold appreciation with the fans, perhaps due to scoring 98 in 226 appearances, under the 1 in 2 formula often used to judge strikers. During the 2016-17 season, Giroud often appeared from the subs bench, playing second string to Alexis and Welbeck. The lack of game time led to speculation that Giroud would soon be on the move, as we discuss below.

Editorial – Why Arsenal Should Sell Giroud

Giroud, being over 30 has undoubtedly peaked and whilst his career is not over, certainly the band is warming up. So, who would buy a player in the evening of his career? Many would. Even though Giroud’s season tally of 16 for 2016-17 was the lowest of his Arsenal career, he did have only limited opportunities.

Now for the crucial bit. A somewhat unspectacular career for France has blossomed in the last year or so, scoring 8 goals in 14 matches for France in 2016, and, 6 goals in only 5 matches in 2017(at the time of writing).

Clearly Giroud’s international performances show that the striker still has much to offer, and, clearly is a factor in the reported figure of 20 million.

So, why sell?

  • Now over 30, Giroud is subject to the same criteria that motivated the sale of Van Persie to United.
  • Whilst he is banging them in with ease on the international stage, his club tallies are good but not spectacular.
  • A purported fee commanding 20 million would be a tidy profit for Arsene Wenger who is always prudent in the transfer market.
  • Arsene Wenger has promised a serious title challenge and will require a striker who can approach the goal a game excellence of a Lacazette, Ronaldo or Messi(if Arsenal can afford and negotiate such a deal)

Olivier Giroud has been a loyal and consistent servant of Arsenal F.C., however, it is time for him to move on and enjoy the final years of his distinguished playing career.

Conte to quit Chelsea?

Antonio Conte To Quit?

In Keeping With His Record...

Conte to quit Chelsea?Premier League Title EPL English Premier League Conte Antonio Conte #Soccer #Football #FA Cup #EnglishPremierLeague #Diego Costa #Chelsea F.C. #Alexis Sanchez

Record:

July 2006 - June 2007

Arezzo

A tumultuous period in charge ending with his sacking after the club were relegated to Serie C1

Dec 2007 - June 2009

Bari

Another brief spell in charge although his eyes were reportedly on the Juventus role.

Sept 2009 - Jan 2010

Atalanta

A very short controversial period in charge marked by confrontations with the fans, leading to his resignation.

July 2010 - May 2011

Siena

Achieved promotion for the club before his coveted dream role became a reality with Juventus

May 2011 - July 2014

Juventus

Perhaps his peak, achieving much success. He had coveted this role for some time and his enthusiasm bore results. Eventually, he left for a national role.

August 2014 - July 2016

Italy

Ends his time after losing a penalty shoot-out to Germany. Was nicknamed "The Godfather" due to the way he talked and the way he made them want to listen.

July 2016 - ?

Chelsea

A very successful season for Chelsea with the greatest win ratio of his managerial career. Discontent emerges in the summer transfer window over transfer plans and budgets...

Best Reigns

Chelsea 78.7 79%
Juventus 67.5 67%
Italy 56 56%
Siena 50 50%
Bari 47.8 48%

With a best length in managerial reign of 3 years, Conte is no Wenger. Given that he likes to go out on a high and that his tenures are often brief, the likelihood is that Chelsea could soon bid adieu to their very successful coach!

Chelsea or Spurs – Momentum the key; Pochettino touts psychological advantage

Mental strength is one of the best weapons in sporting success, as seen in Spurs momentum based victory over the Gunners.

Now only 4 points behind Chelsea, Spurs claim ownership of this weapon, and, therefore a great chance of winning the Premier league title.

The latest soccer information here. Now fetching stats from football data source.

Pochettino clearly is aware of this, when he said:

“We are in the race and the gap is back to four points,”

Clearly, Pochettino knows the strength of mental focus, when he added:

“That could be a chance to put psychological pressure on Chelsea. We play before them and, if we win, we will see what happens when Chelsea play Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday.”

And, to make sure this mental weapon is fired, Pochettino let Chelsea know this weapon would be their main strategy when he said:

“We are in the race and the gap is back to four points,”

For this strategy to work, Chelsea would have to fold mentally under the mental pressure that Spurs apply. Will this happen? The outcome of that question will decide the Premier League title this year.

Is it TIME for Wenger? Wenger OUT!….?????

Latest football information here. Now getting data from information source.

Nothing gets Arsenal supporters blood boiling more than the issue of it’s ageing manager, Arsene Wenger, and, whether it’s time for him to go. So, let’s look at the facts, is it truly time for Wenger OUT:

  • His win/loss ration(overall) is 57.32%, the next best(20 games or more), is –
  • George Elcoat with 53.49%(season 1898-99)

Now, this season, his ratio this season is 58.69%(27 wins from 46). This ratio is above his average.

Last season(2015-16) his win ratio was 51.85%(28 wins from 54). This season has shown a significant improvement.

Last year, Arsenal won 20 from 38 games. this year the tally currently stands at 17 from 31.

So, why the discontent? Remember that Leicester won the title with 81 points from 38 games. The current leaders, Chelsea, have 75 from 32 games, a possible total tally of 93 points. Second place Tottenham have 71 from 32, a possible haul of 89, and, even fourth place Manchester City have 64 points from 32 matches, a possible haul of 82 points, all of these teams can surpass last year’s leaders tally.

This means that the competition this year is significantly stronger than last year, and does NOT mean that Arsenal have fared worse than last year.

Many fans will point to Arsenal’s extended losing streak, and there is no doubt that this should not have occurred. However, when you consider the context:

  • stronger opposition
  • better Arsenal year on year record

this losing streak, in context, is understandable. The players have experiened more mental pressure than last year from facing stronger opposition, and, despite periods of low confidence and poor results, have actually performed better than in previous terms.

So, the question of Wenger OUT?, should be taken in context. This year, Wenger’s managerial record is above not only last years, but, also above his long term achievements. The problem lies in the fact that Arsenal’s improvement this year has been eclipsed by the improvement shown by it’s rivals.

Wenger out? Be careful what we wish for!
